Plaid is the new gold. Yep, thats right and you read it here on plaidweek.com first. Take that CNBC.

Iannone Design a Philadelphia based design/build firm designed a cork sideboard that retails for $3,400. Only “plaid-platting” could drive up prices like that.

We spoke to known economist Ryan Hoffman about this, here are this thoughts. “For decades our economies have been based on the gold standard. For just as long economists have been wondering what’s next. I think our days of wondering are over; it’s plaid! The Celts got it right, we just got too wrapped up in the glitz and glamour of gold to realize it.”

Tomorrow when the commodities markets you know we will be selling our gold in favor of plaid.

Madison and Plaid

With Plaid Week almost 200 days away it is no surprise Madison Avenue is trying to cash in. You may have seen Starburst’s “Contradictions” commercial on TV lately.

If for Plaid, Scotch-Koreans or Albinos are your thing then this commercial is for you. If not then it is just a strange commercial trying too hard to be funny. Is it just us or does the old guy look like Mike Myers? Click the more link to see if for yourself.

Target and the Black Eye Peas Team Up for Plaid Week

Dear Target and Taboo of the Black Eye Peas,

While flipping through channels we here at plaidweek.com caught your Plaid Week commercial. Let me start by saying we are truly appreciative of your dedication to plaid week. We could not be more glad to have the support of Target and the Black Eye Peas behind us. It has only been a few months since the inaugural plaid week and the site has not been up for more than a two weeks and to already have this level of support is unfathomable. We are truly excited.

Not to get caught up in all the elation we must ask are you starting the promotion of Plaid Week 2010 a bit too early. While starting promotion of a “holiday” is nothing new, every year it seems like Christmas season starts a bit earlier and we all know Plaid Week is a grand event worth of such promotion, but can you sustain this promotion for the next 8 months? Taboo from the Black Eye Peas is already draping himself in plaid. Where do you go from here? Will you rename Target to Plaid? Will Taboo change the name of his group to The Black Eye Plaids? We say go for it!!!

Target and the Black Eye Peas released a statement on Friday saying this commercial was only a taste of what they had in store for their Plaid Week campaign. We are both excited and anxious to see what they have in store.
